Infantry, who ever thought it was that complicated?

Infantry is a massive multiplayer third person shooter. You control a single soldier who can move around and shoot other players. You control your characters thrust, turning, and strafing. You can aim and shoot people. The game is in fake 3D. The characters and buildings are drawn so that they appear to be 3D and that you’re just looking from one angle. However everything exists on a 2D map. The intended objective of the game differs from Zone to Zone. When you first get into the game, you can choose Infantry, Tanarus, or Cosmic Rift. Every game but infantry are like relics from the cold war. Infantry is the only surviving thing. The game is very old, 4+ years, I’m not sure. Most of the time the objective is to kill as many people as fast as possible while dying as little as possible yourself. The game has certain strengths and weaknesses. There is so much control available than skill really matters. That is one of its strengths. However it is so old and so out dated that a lot of the players have left. When you first start playing you know very little. Infact when I first started playing I spent the first 3 minutes running around and thinking I was the little dot on the big map in the middle. You run, you shoot, and you sometimes try to evade bullets. The developers of the game eventually sold it to Sony. Harmless Games, the Creators were a small, fun company. Selling it to Sony was like giving a flavored chew-toy to a T-Rex.

A lot of people play this game; very few of them have been playing the whole time. I have taken too much of my time playing this game. It is sick how many hours I’ve spent playing it, how many years I’ve continued. I understand a lot about this game, too much. My name in game is Nomaken2. It has been for the entirety of my time playing infantry. For about 14 hours I was Nomaken, but I didn’t know about the character wipe function at the time.
Everyone who plays the game is most likely an egotistical moron who honestly thinks that when he kills you that he owns and that when you kill him you were cheating. There has been a player created world beyond the original intentions of HG. People don’t see it. They don’t care to find it. They will deny its very existence. This is part true. It doesn’t officially exist. But neither does god, and most believe that it exists. What people end up doing is running around killing people, and then when they die they justify their death in some way. They think people care that they died. They think that people CARE. They don’t do this actively; they just feel that the opinions of others matter. It pleases them to annoy those they kill with kill macros. Damn near every single Infantry player in the game is a hypocrite. They bitch about being raped then rape someone else without care. They call others noobs when they die, yet call others lame when they themselves die. People get pist off by various weapons, and want the other to stop using them because its inconvenient for them to have to learn how to counter it, and then use an equally annoying weapon on someone else and call them whiners for bitching about it. It becomes so annoying and outrageous that I sometimes can’t imagine how they could not realize their idiocy. The point of the game for players is different from the point of the game that has been instructed by the Devs. Some people call others noobs for not following the default point of the game exactly. Others call those people noobs. Some people play the game to get the most kills. They call people with low kills noobs for obviously not playing as long as they for they have fewer kills. Others play for MVP and player rank. They consider themselves good at the game and think they own because they happen to hold more flags longer than someone else or get more kills than anyone else even though they have 6 times more deaths. I believe that the true sign of skill in the game, with excepts of course, would be ratio. In a real life situation ratio would matter most, because in real life if you even had a 1000 kills to 1 death ratio you could theoretically get that one death before the 1000 kills and then you would still lose because you are dead. Some people call me a noob for believing that ratio would define my skill at all. Some bitch that this game ISNT real life and shouldn’t be compared to it. That it is nothing like life, so it shouldn’t relate to it. If it didn’t relate to life, then how could you appreciate the fact that death occurs? Why would you care enough about your kills or deaths that you would be pushed to talk about it? The game is a metaphor for life. It is also clearly based on life. Like any battle of skill. You pit your skill against theirs. If you lose you die. In Infantry you have the privilege of coming back to fight again after death. In real life the only winner is the one with a 1 to 0 ratio.
I will admit that your ratio doesn’t always exactly define your skill since some people play so casually that their ratio is horrible and if they actually tried they would own anyway. People with 20 to 1 ratios are usually people who spec during fights, who only snipe or who use some other cheap tactic. People with 10 to 1 could either, and most likely, by using the same tactics or less likely, just be that good. People will ratios from 3 to 8 to 1 are people who actually have great deals of skill, at least at one point. My ratio used to be 7 to 1 but after a while of not caring it went down to 5 point something to 1. I would need 8000 deaths to get down to 1 to 1.
There are several game types. These include skirmish, CTF, RPG, and resource strategy. The originally intended purpose of CTF is to do everything possible to retrieve and keep a number of flags for a number of minutes. It varies from game zone to zone. RPG is something that is classical but almost evolved within infantry itself. EOL started out as a skirmish map with a CTF class and store template. Eventually, the game Devs just changed the name to RPG. Their ROLE isn’t too complicated. You are all members of gangs who have taken to killing each other over a city on Titan’s moon, in the crater of EOL. Resource strategy is also very classic, but again its something that developed on Infantry. Fleet is the newest addition to Infantry. Players can be miners, pilots, engineers. This game isn’t all too popular because to get very far in the game you need some players to be miners and this isn’t a very amusing job. Fleet requires team work, and while a small portion of the population in infantry ARE team players, this causes fleet to be very small comparatively. At peak times Fleet has about 50 members going down to nothing in the late evenings. Skirmish is very simple, you are a single soldier with a preset item list, sometimes you can find better weapons but you are pretty much what the game has for you. You can search for objectives or just kill other players. The point of this game is to get more kills, less deaths, and more objectives. Ultimately in infantry CTF has been most popular. The difference between CTF and Skirmish is that in CTF you can buy weapons and items. They cost money which you receive through killing, and games. Which weapons you can use depend on your class. Some weapons make it a lot easier to kill other players when you use them. I think this is why CTF is so popular. In infantry there are several types of players. These types exist unofficially but I have observed them often. There are players who are so stupid and unskilled that they don’t even speak and just run around and DIE. There are players who are a little smarter and can be more skilled who will bitch about the rest of the players practices. There are players who are moderately intelligent and can vary in skill from High-Uber to Sub-noob and bitch only selectively. There are players who normal and above average who can span the whole skill list, and hardly ever bitch. Then there are players who are too fucking smart and also have a wide range of skill possibilities. These players are few, infact I’m the only one I know about. The rest of the players don’t give a damn.
So depending on your intelligence usually decides how often and at what you bitch.

Skill!?! Blasphemy! Skill doesn't exist in Infantry!

I now must make a statement describe what skill in this game is. The game has so much control that those who know how to use it have advantage over those who don’t. Half of the whole game’s skill is within the player’s ability to aim. Every weapon has a different behavior and part of skill in infantry is knowing how to use the weapons to hit where players want, when they want them to hit there. The other major part of the game is maneuvering. This is even more important than Aim. Because if you have unparalleled but horrible strafing skills, you will find death very soon. If you have amazing strafing skills and no aim, you will live a lot long enough to kill whoever despite your shitty aim. In infantry you can move forward, backward, turn in either direction and strafe from side to side while you do all of this. Simultaneously you may shoot at players. Maneuvering consists of dodging incoming bullets, while predicting the shots of other players and moving so that your next shots will hit him while his miss you. Maneuvering is a very intensive practice. You need to think about a lot of it, while also having a lot of it built into instinct.

There are several levels of strafing skill. A lot of newer players don’t even know that strafing exists, I myself tried to avoid ever learning to use strafe. However it is very helpful to learn how to use it. Not knowing how to strafe puts like a 40% handicap on you. First thing people learn how to do is strafe randomly. This makes it harder for people shooting at you to know where to shoot. The second level is strafing to intentionally evade shots. At the second level you probably also will strafe kind of randomly to continue to confuse the enemy. At a higher level you will try to predict the enemies shots and evade in anticipation of those shots. The next level up is Predicting the enemies prediction of your prediction. At this level you also strafe to evade consciously and instinctively. If you can master this level then nothing save a snipe will be able to kill you. It’s very hard to do this unless you’ve played for a long time and have most of it down on instinct.

I have developed a scale for skill. This scale goes from Holy Hell to Uber. The purpose of this scale is pretty much nothing. I made it because I observe consistency in it.

Holy Hell – This state of being is something that few players can actually managed to achieve. It is inconceivable how much you suck, and regular stupid players may actually stop and wonder how you have the patience to keep playing death after pointless death. You manage to miss with Shot Gun out of pure incompetence. Even I Pity you, you are cursed by god or something.

Sub-Noob – Something is wrong with your natural aptitude for the game. You suck so bad that you must be someone who didn’t grow up using computers and is trying like hell to learn keyboard control. That’s how bad it appears you are.

Newb – This is one of the most common states of skill. You just started playing recently. You have little or no knowledge in weapons. You probably play an infantry, using Shotgun or some Assault rifle. You run around and shoot at people, easy.

Newb to mid – At this point you’ve been running around and shooting at people so much that you’ve had time to learn about the game, learn about strafing and learn about the various weapons and tactics. You still suck, and die quickly but your getting better.

Mid – At this point you can hold your own against all the other mid’s and below. You will kill 1 to 3 guys before you die. You are gaining skill in weapons use and maneuvering tactics. You know about a lot of obvious game concepts and you’re still getting better.

Mid to high – You are now holding your own easily, you can own sometimes, and your aim and strafing are getting exceptional. You know a lot about most of the popular weapons in game and you know how to use a lot of them. You know of most all game concepts and you can take on several other mid’s at the same time and take out several guys before your death.

High – You can hold your own against almost anything, you own all the time, and you are hard as hell to kill. Your strafing and aim are fantastic, you can evade almost anything and your aim is almost dauntless. You can take on whole rape groups and come out alive. You know about virtually every game concept and you have generally achieved the point of great skill.

High to Uber – At this point you own ALL of the time, you are nearly unstoppable, you only miss when you want to, and to kill you requires the effort of huge masses of people. You are nearly impossible to kill.

Uber – This is a state of skill where you just don’t die. You kill whoever you want, easily, and you can evade anything and everything. You can take on full bases by yourself. This is that existence that movie characters and anime characters are in when they are doing something important or heroic. Where they can take on whole armies by themselves. People in infantry usually can only attain this level of own age for short amounts of time. If any one character could continuously hold this level of skill then they must be blessed by god or be gods themselves.

God damn those gay lagging noob raping lamers! Damn them to hell!

Now I will talk about the types of names that Infantry players have dubbed for tactics.

Lamer – This is probably the most commonly use term. A lot of weapons can be fired repeatedly and don’t give the target a chance to defend them. Some weapons aren’t very well balanced with this fact in mind and it is generally looked down upon to take advantage of this. Also known as spamming.

Noob – This is has a slightly different shade of meaning than newb. It implies not that you are a newbie but that you play like a newbie despite however long you have actually played. This insult is kind of traditional. It is claiming you are unskilled, stupid, ect.

Speccer – In infantry you play on teams and when you first get into the game the team you are on is the spectating team, you cant kill people here but you cant be killed either. Speccers will jump onto this team when they are low on HP or about to die otherwise, to keep their ratio satisfying or to anger another player.

Gay – This is a term that has evolved not only in just this game but in the whole damn world. Like the phrase sucks, gay is rarely ever used the way it was intended as decades ago. Gay in infantry generally means some person, tactic, or item that is unfair or pisses them off.

Rape – Rape in infantry means to gang up on a single player. It’s a lot harder to kill 2 people at once than it is to kill one person. It is unfair most of the time for people to group up like that. It is severely looked down upon to rape people. Rape is usually the biggest source of hypocrisy in all of infantry.

Lag(er) – One who lags. The game exists over the internet and exists on the internet in several pieces. Computers are connected through an electrical connection across great distances. It takes time for the information from one computer to get to the Infantry server Sony has, and then to their computer and back. The development of broad band doesn’t exactly make it faster but it allows more information to be transmitted at the same time. Those who lag usually don’t do it on purpose, but players bitch at them anyway. It’s one of those situations that they need to justify their death. If people know that the one who killed them is lagging then they must know that they don’t suck, it’s just the laggers fault. Or, at least, that’s what they think.

Back peddling – This is something most people do but only JT’s can really use it to be annoying. It’s usually easier to hit people the closer you get to them, so when defending players are fighting they usually back peddle, walk backwards, while shooting back. Jump Troopers can use vehicles which allow them to move backwards so fast that other players CANT catch them. So they can always stay so far away that they can hit you but you can’t hit them.

Stunner and Tranq – These two weapons are used by medics. They are good ideas tactic wise but they are very annoying. I think they could be better if they were more fairly and skill oriented. Right now they are very annoying because they can be used repeatedly and are easy to hit with and do not put the med at much of a disadvantage. Also they remove from the game a major portion of the skill.

Sniping – There are two sniper rifles in CTF. Maklov g9 sniper rifle, and Particle Accelerator. One is energy based and the other is physical ammunition based. The maklov sniper rifle is a stand-and-fire weapon that pumps out invisible bullets in intervals of like 1.25 seconds fire delay. They do a lot of damage, but are not a one hit kill for anyone wearing armor, and it can be fired repeatedly. The bullets are slow, so a deal of luck is required to hit. The PA is a very fast energy weapon with unlimited range; it is usually a 1 or 2 hit kill and takes up a lot of energy. The reload time is almost nothing but it eats up 400 energy a shot and makes the infil who fires it vulnerable. The bullet is nearly invisible and if the infil using it is skilled, is almost impossible to evade. Evasion is pretty much luck because no one is fast enough to move out of the way once they see the bullet trail.

There are a lot of sub classes for Lamer. All of them are annoying on the same basic principle; they’re too powerful and can be fired too often with little or no disadvantage to the user.

g9 lamer – A JT or infantry can fire this at a distant player and given the time it would take to get to them, or the fact that the JT can always be out of range, REALLY annoys the hell out of players.

SG lamer – Shot gun does very little damage but it shoots a lot of bullets at once and it has a wide shot range. It’s very easy to hit people with. The only armor that cannot be damaged by it is Carapace. However the only class that can use this armor is Infantry. The rest of the classes can be killed using it. Since it’s so easy to use it’s looked down upon to be used and its user is generally dubbed a noob.

Mml lamer – MML stands for micro missile launcher. It fires 6 little rockets with a very predictable firing pattern. 2 forward, 2 that spin around the hvy to the left then go forward, and 2 that spin around the hvy to the right then go forward. It’s easy to hit people who haven’t figured out the firing pattern of mml. It is stand-and-fire, and it does have a delayed firing time but it can be fired repeatedly and makes the hvy deadly at close range and forward vectors.

RPG Lamer – RPG stands for Rocket Propelled Grenade. It is basically a missile launcher. It has a split second worth of delay in firing, it does a lot of damage and has almost no minimum firing range. It can be fired repeatedly and makes the hvy deadly at long range. It’s hard to evade because it moves so fast.

DPB lamer – Drop pack blast is a weapon built into JT’s Drop packs. The drop pack is a Vehicle that has dual plasma pistols attached. It can be fired repeatedly, the 4 plasma shots at a time will bounce off walls, and the shots do A LOT of damage. They do drain a lot of the energy of the JT who uses them, so it puts the JT at a very nasty disadvantage because of his light armor but usually low skill people who lame it exclusively don’t mind dying repeatedly.

DBS lamer – This type of laming isn’t nearly as infamous as DPB laming, JT’s can also do this, but its close range. Their other armed vehicle is the Death Board. It has a slashing melee weapon on it that does a lot of damage, requires no energy and can be used over and over. However you must be close to use it so it put the JT at as disadvantage especially with their low armor. DPB and DBS are best used in hit and run attacks. Because of the lessened maneuverability of both vehicles their movements are predictable and a skilled hvy or infantry can take them down quickly.

Grenade lamer – An infantry can carry 12 grenades and while invading a base he can throw all 8 one after another into the face of the enemy, totally annihilating them. People don’t complain about this nearly as much as they complain about JT’s grenade laming.

GL lamer – JT’s possess two grenade launchers with 50 rounds of ammunition. One of these two Grenade Launchers is Maklov GL 8a. It will bounce several times before exploding. A JT laming grenades in a close enclosed space is nearly lethal. Most cases they can completely annihilate everyone doing this. It’s a cheat tactic and works so well because in infantry in most cases friendly fire is turned off.

PA Lamer – I’ve heard of this but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t exist, you can only get off a total of 3 shots, maybe 4 with both energizers, but most people only fire 1 or 2 then move and recharge. I suppose it is possible to blink in drop ship, then fire off 3 or 4 and recall back and recharge and do it again. However I’ve never seen anyone do this.

Mine lamer – There are several types of mines, AP mines, plasma mines, Bullet mines, repulsor mines, grape shot mines, and EMP mines. The most commonly use mines are bullet, plasma and AP. Followed by grapeshot, then repulsor, and rarely EMP. You can lay down 5 AP, 5 plasma and 20 bullet mines. A mine lamer is known for hiding mines in places where they cannot easily be seen, so that a player will accidentally find it. They are also known to drop bullet mines when they’re running away so that you are slowed if not killed by them.

Stim pack laming – Stim pack in Infantry gives you a 10 hp heal. You can carry only 1 at a time. Infils can use a blinking technique that will allow them to heal up to full hp in maybe 1 or 2 minutes. This is lame because if a person wanted to they could be immortal using it, save a snipe.

Blink Generator – This is an item used by infils. When used it saves your current location on the game map for 300 energy, and if you use it again without 60 seconds you will recall back to that spot for no energy cost. It allows infils to escape. It really pisses off other players because if used well it can mean immortality for an infil.

Just remember, it's not lame until it... uhh... kills someone.

Maklov and Kuchler Assault rifles – These two assult rifles are the main weapons of most infantrys everywhere. They fire in 3 round bursts and take very little time to reload, one has better accuracy and the other is faster. Both have their better uses but most infantrys use one of these two weapons. They are one of the weapons in the game that almost never can be called noobish or lame.

Recoilless rifle – This weapon fires a giant slow missile that if it hits your going to be hurting. It’s slow so it’s not really that lame, but its alternate function is what is more popular. It can fire an RR canister. This is basically a missile sized Shot gun shell. It fires a hail of SG bullets that guarantees a SSC using soldier a full energy drain. It isn’t that widely used since it can be easily countered and does little damage to heavier targets for how much it weighs.

Plasma Cannon – There are two plasma cannons. One is more expensive, yet lighter, the other has a slightly larger “bullet” while being heavier. This thing has a significant fire delay, it moves slow as hell, but when it hits, it HURTS. This thing will either one hit kill you or leave you with like 7 hp and no energy. Almost all direct hits will kill you. Some people consider its user a noob for using such a weapon, I guess it’s because of its power. However the user is put at a very big disadvantage because of the drain in energy.

AutoCannon – This is a cross between a machine gun and a grenade. It is slowish, it fires repeatedly, the bullets are close together and it HURTS. Several consecutive shots will kill. This weapon is rarely complained about, mainly because RPG and MML take the spot light for lamest weapons that a hvy can use.

Rail gun – JT’s can use rail guns, so can hvy. They are bullets that are fired using magnetism as opposed to a chemical explosion. They move a lot faster, and do armor piercing damage. They do not fire fast, then can almost never be lamed, but several consecutive shots can hurt if not kill their target. It requires a good deal of aim since it cannot be lamed. Heavies can use much harder hitting rail gun shots.

CAW – This gun fires tons of little tiny bullets that do almost no damage on their own but since it can be lamed it still pisses off the lighter armored players. This weapon is proof that HG owned Infantry before Sony. If you look at the info of the weapon you’ll find that the description could only be written by people who owned souls.

Pistols – There are several pistols, all of them are very low damage and pretty insignificant. However the Kamenev AP mk2 (2) pistols can be very useful to the player who knows how to use them. Otherwise the rest of the pistols are totally useless. Most likely we could call people who use them to be noobs, because all of them just suck.

Rifle Grenades – These grenades are slow, and powerful, kind of hard to see and do not bounce. They require certain Assault Rifles to use as well. They are used usually to take out turrets.

Flechette rifle – This weapon is well known, despite its uselessness and suckyness. It fires out a lot of shot gun shells rapids, do a little more damage than SG but they have a shallower fire vector and disperse quickly.

Unittech BR2000 – This weapon is sometimes used by infantrys as an alternative to AR. It fires small green bullets at a regular firing pattern, the bullets are slower than AR and the damage is about the same. This weapon tends to work less well than AR.

Maklov G2 ACW – ACW stands for Area clearenace weapon. This is the best shot gun, works well against ALL targets not wearing carapace and gets a nasty rap for being the lamest gun in the whole damn game. And it is, which is why I lame it as much as fucking possible.

Incinerator – This weapon is a flame thrower, it usually sucks, requires its own ammunition and doesn’t do a hell of a lot of damage. Also it can work to the uses disadvantage because it creates kind of a smoke screen. It is considered lame to some lighter armored targets.

Needler – This is under Submachine guns, it is like a little tiny rail gun for meds. It does 1 point of armor piercing damage. It can be lamed by them, but generally meds are owned so hard by SG that they can barely do anything with it.

Unittech Tech 09 SMG (2) – This is the best pistol after the Kamenev, it fires A LOT of little pistol ammo shots over and over. It fires a lot of bullets before reloading and is good at draining energy. Very useful when laming, however its not very powerful and isn’t that widely used.

Unittech Tech 07m PSMG (2) – This is one weapon of choice for Infils, it uses energy, and fires a lot of little plasma bullets. It drains energy quickly and can be lamed. Works well against other infils, because of their low armor.

K111r – This is a plasma rifle that does more damage than the assault rifle plasma rifle. It fires few bullets slowly, but the bullets themselves are plasma bolts that can bounce off walls and generally do a lot of damage. This is another weapon of choice among infils. It will do damage to another infil in one shot. However it does drain a lot of energy to use.

Maklov and Kuchler PR – PR stands for plasma rifle, or pulse rifle. These are two plasma assault rifles that infils can infantry can use. However usually only infils use them. Like the infantry’s typical assault rifles there are choices between usage between them, one is faster, the other has a more regular firing pattern. I find that the maklov PR is easier and better to use. However I have seen skilled players use the other.

There are 4 vehicles, death board, and drop pack, which can only be used by jump troopers, hover board which can be used by meds, engys and JT’s, and flight pack, which infantrys can use but it sucks so incredibly bad that it’s a waste of space. The carry weight of a character is increased when using a vehicle, however the strafing speed is decreased, which when facing a skilled player can be lethal.

God damn Noob Drop pack using JT! Drop pack is so lame! Stupid JT using a drop pack!
...uhh...you know... Only JT's can use drop packs, they are specifically designed to use vehicles according to the class info...
I don't care! I can't figure out how to beat it! It's LAME!

Infil is for noobs, so is hvy, medic, engy, JT, and uhh.... infantry...

And now some thoughts on the different classes. In the CTF maps, you have Infantry, Heavy Weapons, Infiltrator, Jump Trooper, Squad Leader, Field Medic, and Engineer.

Infantrys are the best, most balanced class in the game. While all the classes can own if well played the Infantry owns easily while unskilled and owns like no other when skilled. In a One on one fight the best unit to use against Infantry are Sniping Infils and other infantry. The Infantry can become so skilled that they are virtual immortal versus other units. They have the highest armor, and moderately powerful weapons. They can take several direct hits while not losing hit points. They are the most respected and equal dueling class in the game.

Heavys are pretty much the way they sound. They have lighter armor, bigger weapons. They are so lightly armored that they need to kill other targets quickly or they will eventually get tired out and be killed. A hvy to hvy duel is equal yet not as engaging as a infantry to infantry duel. Hvys use some of the lamest weapons in the game. They are famous for their MML and RPG and RR. They are easier to kill than Infantry because of their lighter armor. They also have a lack of good short range weaponry. So they are easier to take if you know what your doing.

Jump Troopers can work well to be the most annoying class in the game. They can use drop pack or death board and carry up to 85 or 100 kg respectively. This way they can carry over 7 weapons and all the ammo for them. They can lame using many different types of weapons and can also snipe. They’re speed allows them to be practically immortal at long range save a snipe. They have access to a lot of the more powerful weapons too. However their armor is lighter and they can be killed easily with Shot gun, or AR. Once you’ve got them at close range it’s possible to kill them quickly.

Squad Leader is a class that exists in infantry, although its use is almost nothing. Medics are better at following out the purpose of SL than SL’s themselves. The only advantage is their Team summon costs less energy which is about as significant as the proper usage of the word Hypothesis. No one plays SL’s and those that do stop, because they never have played them, and they are only playing them to find out why people don’t play them then they find out and stop. They suck.

Field Medic is the class that can heal people. They can summon people at cost to their energy and they can heal them using a med kit and a special type of ammo found on the game map. Their armor is light, and their weapons suck. They are used primarily for base defense and sometimes base invading. They also possess stunner and tranq which can be used to help them duel, but usually is used to help defend bases or make rapes more deadly. They can almost never harm Infantry because of their shitty weapons. They bitch about this but I think its pretty obvious that a medic isn’t supposed to be Rambo.

Engineer is the class that can build crap like turrets. In CTF they build and maintenance turrets. They can also use all types of mine and grenade. They can be very annoying when they set up turrets in the middle of no where. However they can be a priceless resource in base defending and invading. They can build turrets in enemy bases and build them in home bases. Turrets are 1 of 4 types. Plasma, MG, rocket and sentry. Each is invulnerable to most but explosive weapons and fire the type of weapon that is their name. They also prevent infils from blinking out of the base after getting the flag and can see infils when they’re cloaked. They are also best used for base defense and cannot be Rambo.

Infiltrator is the last class. They have virtually no armor, and their weapons are all energy based. They can snipe other people with PA and they are excellent at flagging. They have the ability to cloak and have stealth. Their weapons hurt a lot, they drain energy and sting after draining it. Their armor is so light that if they get hit with SG or AR they will most likely die. However they also have Blink on their side and the most energy of anyone in the game. Infils can be the most annoying and deadly raping units.

Only noobs rape!

you didn't seem to follow that policy when you and the other guy we're fucking me over...

Listen, i can rape you, you can't rape me.

Some game concepts:

Truce – This is an agreement between 2 players who for some reason are okay with not attacking each other. A lot of people get pist off by people who follow truces blindingly assuming that those who follow it suck, or are wimps, or noobs. Ect.

Squads and Chat channels – These things are basically Chat rooms. Some players think things like, I’m gonna make a squad and were gonna all automatically work together and own and go to CTFPL and own and blah blah blah. Squads are just little chat channels. Somehow some player thinks to himself, “Having a chat channel would be cool.” And it’s not. It’s just stupid.

Raping - I get really pist off by PEOPLE who get pissed off by rape. For one thing raping is just human nature. It is just an impulse, something you don’t SAY in your head but generally know that it is safer and more effective to travel in groups. Some people get pissed off by being raped but then rape someone else unintentionally. Rape occurs when several single players think to themselves, “I will go attack that one person alone,” at the same time. People do not rape intentionally and personally it’s very hard to NOT rape people. People use rape in the reverse of the fashion that causes it. Like people when killed by a rape may say that those who killed them NEEDED to rape them to kill them. People do not say, “HEY LETS ALL KILL HIM AT ONCE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM!” Nor will they take the time to say, “Hes mine,” And if they did, people wouldn’t listen to him, “God damn it, I said he wasn’t mine!” According to me, technically rape is 4+ people vs one. 1 vs 1 is just that. 2 vs 1 is double teaming, 3 vs 1 is triple teaming, 4+ is rape and can only be beaten by luck, incompetence or very high skill.

Infil Code – This is a unofficial, unspoken truce between infils on CTF maps and Eol. It basically says that if you are an infil that you should not attack any other infils unless they are flagging. The exact specifications of the Infil code differs from Infil to infil. Tons of people hate it, or deny it exists, think that it is noobish, or lame. Those who follow it generally just do it because it seems like annoying. The actual reason why the infil code works and is worth while is something few people know. Almost all the other classes can fight each other and be hit several times and not lose hp, so if their skill is high enough they can never die. However if you’re an infil, and you fight another infil you can almost NEVER avoid losing hp. An infils armor is so low that they know when they charge someone chances are they will lose HP or die. So a charging infil doesn’t mind doing a suicide bomber run. Then they’ll just respawn and do it again. It doesn’t take skill to kill another infil. Also infils are really the only threat for infils because only energy hurts them so bad. Using k111r means they WILL lose hp. So ultimately the reason infils shouldn’t attack each other is because it doesn’t require skill to kill another infil, it’s just annoying and pointless. Of course this is such a long complicated reason for a thing people usually would just DO because they notice less annoyance, that most regular stupid infantry players either don’t know about it, or refuse to acknowledge.

Infil code! Go back to EOL you noob!
...but the infil code was here since like the game began... Eol has been here like a year?
Infil code doesn't fucking exist you noob! Where does it say it exists!? Only noobs follow the infil code!
...but uhh, i follow it and uhh... i own you...
Thats because your a.... umm.... noob...

Speccing – Now I talked about speccing earlier but now I think I can add a bit to it. Now I am fine with stim pack laming, and I am fine with ?go to give you a full hp heal BETWEEN fights. However I look down on speccing and pulling in the middle of fights because for one aspect it’s just unrealistic. It would be like calling to god to save you in the middle of a fight and having it answer. Well in real life that kind of shit would just not happen. And that matters because once again, in a technical sense, infantry is a metaphor for life, and if it wasn’t you wouldn’t find a reason to play it at all.

Lame weapons and tactics – I officially do not think that any weapon is lame or noobish. I will refer to a tactic as Something Laming because I can recognize when a player is spamming a weapon and people just call that X laming on infantry. However it is my firm belief that if you want to win, that you should use every low, under-handed, or otherwise cheap tactic to ensure your victory. History is written by the winners and the only reason it doesn’t work that same god damn way in Infantry is because people have the privilege to live after their death. I also believe that if you use tactics that people would normally call cheating that it is just demonstrating your superior knowledge and skill in the game. Good players who are willing to use cheap tactics will beat good players that aren’t willing to use those tactics. Speccing is exempt from this belief because it is going outside the laws of the game. The game will defend the rest of the players from lag by speccing those who cause too much. You can escape to a Sanctuary called the Drop ship at any time your energy can handle it – the times your NOT being attacked but you can spec at any time just by alt-tabbing when using a crappy comp, or some other lag causing technique. I personally dislike Stunner and Tranq because they both remove a vital part of the game.

Sniping – Sniping isn’t lame, or cheap. It is smart. The idea is that you cannot fight back. Unless you are another sniper then there is no way you can fight back against this other than being in an area that is unlikely to be sniped or strafing like a mad man. Even then luck may work to kill you. Using weapons like PA, and rail gun, and g9 actually require a good amount of skill. The amount of skill and the amount of luck depends on the distance away the target is. The closer the target is to the min range of PA and g9 the more skill than luck is involved. The further away, the more chance is involved, because the target may move very far from the snipers prediction of their movement by the time the bullet gets there if the target is far away. Sniping may be considered noobish or dishonorable because you cannot fight back against it. But the skill comes from the fact that to HIT with PA you need to correctly predict the movements of your target. This, incase you didn’t know, requires skill.

Noobs and their many names – Noob, newb, n00b, nub, nooblet, noobit, noobish, ect. People keep on making new ways to call someone else unskilled. Why? Why not? Making new ways to call people shitty is just phonetically pleasing and makes you feel better to place the blame on someone else. All these different names come from the American ability to evolve slang. Sucks, and dog are two examples of words whose meaning have changed over time. Sucks originally meant as demeaning and as unpleasant as needing to suck someone’s dick. Dog used to mean as ugly as a dog. Sucks now means unpleasant, or bad. Dog now means a friend, or it can be used to compliment. Noob is like that, although right now it retains the meaning of playing badly, like a new player. It has also been evolved through the use of l337.

Kill macros – When people die, or when they kill people they will sometimes use a kill macro. There are little commands in the game like %killer, that will when used in the chat display the name of the person who last killed the player using the command. This can be used like “%killer, OMG YOU LAMER.” And the person using the macro can set this to a macro key and use it every time they die. This becomes VERY annoying. You can also make them private message kill macros which cannot be blocked. Macros can also be used for helpful purposes like reporting enemy locations or home locations, however most of the time they are used only to be spiteful and petty towards players they need to make themselves feel better about.

Well this is all I can think of right now, and I have been writing for quite a while now, time to actually go have fun on the game. That is possible, as hard as it is to conceive. I may add more as the inspiration to write comes to me.

Hey ma! Where is da BACK button ting dey was talkin bout on TV?
